AMIENS METROPOLE may not be at the centre of Europe, but is near Paris (1:05hrs) and London (2:38hrs).
It is composed of 33 towns, shaped with urbanized and rural landscape. Amiens is a green and blue city : the hortillonnages (floating gardens) cover 300 hectares of small islands and 65 km of canals. Our history is enriched by local traditions, cultural heritage and culinary specialties : Notre Dame Cathedral (listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites in 1981), picturesque quarter (the little Venice of the North), Picardy Museum, Jules Verne (novelist), events (World Music and Jazz Festival, Cathedral Light Show, Medieval Festival, Great Flea Market, International Film Festival, Christmas Market, Town Festival with street shows, etc.)
Finally, Amiens Métropole is a young area with its 25 000 students and 25% of the population of Amiens under 20 years old.
